Inserting Images

The three steps that will help your students get started on your site are:

Insert > Image

Insert > Image is the command that allows you to add images to your website. Let's try some simple steps.

There are two main ways to add images. You can pull images live from other websites, or you can upload images from your computer. In either case, do your best to give credit to the owner of the image by adding citation information.

Pulling Images live from other websites

0. You must be in Edit mode, by clicking the Edit Page button.

1. Place your cursor about where you'd like your new image to appear.

2. Open another tab in your browser (File > New Tab).

3. In the new tab navigate to the desired image.

4. Windows--Right click on the image and choose Properties, copy the Address.

Mac--Right click (or control-click) on the image and choose Copy Image Location.

5. Click on the tab to go back to the web page you've been building.

6. Go to Insert > Image.

7. Choose the Web Address tab.

8. In the "Image URL" field, delete the "http://" already there and paste the address that you copied in step 4.

A preview of the image should appear below the address.

9. Click OK. The image should now appear on your page.

11. Click the Save button for your page.

Below is an example of an image that explains the lunar phases. The image is being displayed from the following web address: http://www.moonconnection.com/images/moon_phases_diagram.jpg
